1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains how Rui Hu, the individual offering Whimlumi, handles information in the Whimlumi desktop app, on this website, and when providing support. “Whimlumi,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the app and its operator, Rui Hu.

Apple and Microsoft separately handle their storefronts, accounts, payments, and related records under their own privacy policies.

2. Information handled by the desktop app

Local app data remains subject to your computer’s security, backups, and operating-system settings. You can remove local data using available app controls or by uninstalling the app and removing its local data, subject to any copies retained in backups you control.

3. App-store purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes Mac App Store transactions and Microsoft processes Microsoft Store transactions. These stores handle payment credentials, billing, taxes, renewals, cancellation, and refunds. Whimlumi does not receive your full payment-card information.

The app may receive limited transaction and entitlement information from the applicable store—such as product, purchase, expiration, trial, renewal, and status information—so it can unlock Plus features, restore purchases, and display subscription status. This information is handled locally unless the store itself processes it as part of its service.

4. Support messages

If you voluntarily email support, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, device or app details, and attachments. We use it to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and maintain a record of the request.

Please do not send passwords, payment-card numbers, store credentials, or information you do not want included in a support record. Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed, normally no more than 24 months after the request is resolved. Records may be kept longer when required for security, dispute, tax, accounting, or other legal and business obligations.

5. This website

This static website does not use our own analytics, advertising cookies, account system, or contact form. It is hosted with GitHub Pages. GitHub may receive standard web-request and log information—such as an IP address, browser or device details, requested page, time, and referring address—to deliver, secure, and operate the service under the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

If you follow a link to an app store or another website, that service handles information under its own policy.

6. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We may use service providers needed to host the website or deliver and receive support email. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business transfer subject to applicable safeguards.

7. Your choices and rights

You control local app data through your device and app settings. Store purchase records and subscription choices are managed through Apple or Microsoft. For a support record you sent to us, you may ask to access, correct, or delete it by emailing us. We will honor applicable privacy rights and may need enough information to verify and process a request.

Your rights vary by location. Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot lawfully be limited.

8. Security and international services

We use reasonable measures appropriate to the limited information we handle, but no device, email system, or internet service is completely secure. GitHub, email providers, Apple, and Microsoft may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their policies and applicable safeguards.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Whimlumi, the website, or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated through the app, this website, or the applicable store listing when appropriate.
