Privacy Policy

What the app processes, where it goes, and what you control.

Effective: July 15, 2026

Rui Hu ("we", "us", or "our") operates the MyInventoryRUs mobile application (the "App") and this product website. This policy explains the information processed by the App and website, the services you may choose to connect, and the controls available to you.

1 Information You Add or Choose to Share

1.1 Inventory and organization data

  • Item records — names, descriptions, categories, conditions, quantities, barcodes, serial numbers, tags, notes, purchase details, value estimates, and warranty information.
  • Organization records — the Spaces and Rooms you create, including their names and appearance.
  • Photos and attachments — item photos plus documents you choose to attach, such as receipts, manuals, appraisals, and warranty records.

1.2 Optional credentials and files

  • Provider API keys — keys you choose to add for supported AI or barcode services. These are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device.
  • Imported files — CSV inventories and backup archives you select for import or restore.
  • Support messages — your email address and anything you include when you voluntarily contact support.

1.3 What the App does not collect automatically

  • The App does not require an account and does not automatically collect your name, email address, phone number, or precise location.
  • The App does not include advertising trackers or third-party analytics SDKs.
  • Apple may provide standard App Store analytics if you have chosen to share analytics with developers in your device settings.

2 Local Storage and iCloud Sync

Your inventory records, photos, and attachments are stored locally using Apple’s SwiftData framework. If iCloud is available for the App, this information syncs through Apple CloudKit in your personal iCloud account so it can appear on your iPhone and iPad.

We do not operate a separate inventory database and do not have access to your private iCloud inventory. Apple governs iCloud processing under its Privacy Policy. Provider API keys are stored separately in the iOS Keychain on the device and are not synced by the App.

3 Camera and AI-Assisted Analysis

The App uses your camera only after you grant permission. The processing path depends on the feature and settings you choose:

  • On-device processing — Apple Vision processes the image on your device. When available and selected, Apple’s on-device intelligence can refine the resulting classifications and context without receiving or transmitting the image itself.
  • Optional cloud processing — when you request richer AI analysis and your settings allow a configured cloud provider, the App sends the item image and relevant context to OpenAI or Anthropic. Context may include user-created Space or Room names, a barcode, existing categories, and on-device visual classifications.

The App does not intentionally attach your name, email address, or MyInventoryRUs account identifier because the App has no user account. Cloud requests are authenticated with the provider key you configured and are subject to that provider’s terms, retention, pricing, and privacy practices. Review the OpenAI Privacy Policy and Anthropic Privacy Center before enabling a cloud provider.

4 Barcode and Product Lookup

Barcode detection happens on your device. When you choose to look up product details or pricing, the barcode value is sent to UPCitemdb. If you configured a UPCitemdb API key, that key is also used to authenticate the request. UPCitemdb processes this information under its Privacy Policy.

5 Imports, Exports, Backups, and Attachments

  • Imports and restores are read on your device. Imported records become part of your local inventory and may sync through iCloud as described above.
  • Exports and backups are created on your device and shared or saved only to the destination you choose.
  • Files outside the App may contain sensitive inventory information and images. Their protection and retention depend on where you save or share them. Delete external copies from that destination when you no longer need them.

6 Third-Party Services

  • Apple CloudKit — optional synchronization through your iCloud account.
  • Apple StoreKit — subscription purchase, entitlement, and billing management.
  • OpenAI or Anthropic — optional cloud AI analysis when you configure and use one of those providers.
  • UPCitemdb — product information and pricing lookups for barcodes.

These providers process information under their own agreements and privacy practices. You are responsible for charges, rate limits, and account controls associated with provider credentials you add.

7 Subscriptions and Payments

Premium subscriptions are processed through Apple’s App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card information. Apple manages billing, renewal, cancellation, and purchase history under its Media Services Terms and Conditions.

8 Website and Support Communications

This website does not set advertising cookies or run analytics scripts. The hosting provider may process standard request information, such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp, to deliver and secure the site.

If you contact support, your email provider and ours process your address and message. We use support correspondence to respond, troubleshoot, and improve the App, and retain it only as reasonably needed for those purposes or legal obligations.

9 Retention and Deletion

  • Inventory data remains on your device until you edit or delete it. Deleting the App removes its local data.
  • Synced data may remain in your iCloud account until you delete it or manage the App’s iCloud data through Apple’s settings.
  • You can remove provider keys from the App’s API Key settings. The App does not sync those keys.
  • Exports and backups remain wherever you chose to save or share them until you delete those copies.

10 Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App or website. If you believe a child has sent personal information through support, contact us so we can address it.

11 Your Choices and Control

You can decline camera access, use on-device processing, avoid adding cloud-provider keys, disable iCloud for the App, delete individual records, remove attachments, export your records, remove provider keys, or delete the App. Controls offered by Apple and any provider account you connect are managed directly with those providers.

12 Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the App, website, or connected services change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
