Rui Hu ("we", "us", or "our") operates the My Inventory mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices.
1 Information We Collect
1.1 Data You Provide
- Inventory data — item names, descriptions, categories, conditions, estimated values, and photos you capture or attach.
- Organization data — spaces, rooms, and tags you create.
1.2 Automatically Collected Data
- Camera images — processed on-device for item detection. Images are not transmitted unless you opt into the AI-powered analysis feature (see Section 3).
- Barcode/UPC codes — scanned on-device and may be sent to third-party pricing APIs to retrieve product information.
- Device information — device model and iOS version, collected by Apple through standard App Store analytics (only if you have opted in via iOS Settings).
1.3 Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or location.
- We do not use advertising trackers or analytics SDKs.
2 Data Storage & iCloud Sync
All inventory data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you have iCloud enabled, your data is synced via Apple CloudKit to your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to your iCloud data. Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy govern that storage.
3 AI-Powered Analysis
The App offers optional AI-powered item analysis:
- On-device processing — The Apple Vision framework runs entirely on your device. No data leaves your device for on-device classification.
- Cloud AI (OpenAI) — When you use the AI scan feature, item photos may be sent to the OpenAI API for analysis. OpenAI processes this data according to their Privacy Policy. We send only the image data necessary for analysis; no personal identifiers are attached.
4 Third-Party Services
- OpenAI API — for AI-powered item recognition and valuation (optional feature).
- UPC/Barcode lookup API — for retrieving product information from scanned barcodes.
- Apple CloudKit — for iCloud data synchronization.
- Apple StoreKit — for managing in-app subscriptions. Billing data is handled entirely by Apple.
5 Subscriptions & Payments
Premium subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information. Subscription management and billing are governed by Apple's Terms of Service.
6 Data Retention
Your data remains on your device and in your iCloud account for as long as you keep the App installed. Deleting the App removes local data. iCloud data can be managed through your iCloud settings.
7 Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8 Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally or in your personal iCloud account, you have full control over your data at all times. You can delete any item, export your data (CSV, JSON, PDF), or remove the App entirely.
9 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
